We are continuously looking for new ways to protect your domain from thieves and hackers. These crooks would also love to have access to your contact information so they can spam you with fraudulent emails.

Domain Lock

The most basic of domain protection is the Domain Lock. This services is included in most domain’s registration, depending on the TLD (.com, .org…).

The domain lock is set by the domain registrar and disables any updates to the domain contacts or status. This does not affect the use of the domain in any way (websites or emails) and will block any unauthorized modifications or transfers.

You can manage your Domain Lock in your client area. You can check out this guide for more information.

ID Protection

ICANN requires that every domain name registration has current contact information attached to it. However, if you know where to look, this information can be public. This information will include your email address. Spammers will use this email address to send you their junk mail and other shady characters may use your email for their own devious plots.

ID Protection will help keep your contact information private and can greatly reduce the amount of spam you receive. While not available on all domain TLDs, this is a great tool to help keep your information private. It is best to purchase this service while registering a new domain from your client area, but you can also add it to an existing domain.
